You are invited to watch Simile, a bold and exciting new performance created with young people, for young people, and performed by Highly Sprung professionals Luis Dunn, Colleen Hedley and Emily Robertson.

Set on the night before three friends sit their English exam, Simile explores the pressures of growing up in a hyper-connected world. Through poetry, physical theatre, dance and spoken word, it tackles themes including:

Identity, friendship and belonging

Social media and smartphone dependency

Trolling and toxic masculinity

Place, heritage and the pressures young people face

Inspired by the GCSE English Literature poetry anthology, the production brings familiar themes and published poetry to life through a relatable story, original writing and moments of humour.

Whether you already enjoy theatre and poetry or have never seen a physical theatre performance before, Simile offers an accessible, energetic and emotionally powerful experience. It is especially aimed at young people aged 13-16.

Chaos, corruption, and comedy collide in The UN Inspector, David Farr’s brilliantly sharp modern adaptation of Gogol’s classic satire The Government Inspector. Set in a crumbling dictatorship on the brink of political disaster, the story follows an ordinary British businessman who is mistakenly identified as a powerful UN inspector sent to uncover corruption at the heart of the regime.

As panic sweeps through the presidential palace, ministers scramble to hide their greed, lies, and outrageous misconduct — while the unsuspecting impostor happily enjoys the luxury, attention, and influence suddenly thrust upon him. What follows is a fast-paced whirlwind of mistaken identity, political satire, and outrageous farce.

Packed with larger-than-life characters, razor-sharp humour, and biting social commentary, The UN Inspector is a wildly entertaining comedy that exposes the absurdity of power and corruption. Bold, hilarious, and brilliantly chaotic, this is theatre that will keep audiences laughing from start to finish.
